TELEMUNDO TO BROADCAST FUEGO GAMES THROUGH 2011
Fans have opportunity to name Fuego’s new TV show
Telemundo, the official broadcasting partner of Mexico’s World Cup qualifying matches continues to increase its presence in soccer by signing a new partnership with the Fresno Fuego. Through the 2011 season, Telemundo Fresno will broadcast all home matches of the Fuego, the premier soccer franchise of the Central Valley.
The partnership also includes a Fuego TV show, the first of its kind for any PDL soccer team in North America. The weekly, 30 minute TV show will air throughout the PDL season, featuring game highlights (home and away), training sessions, off-site events, community involvement, pre-game team meetings, and interviews with players, opponents, and local personalities.
“We are elated with the opportunities that this partnership brings to our organization and the soccer community of the Valley,” says Fresno Fuego General Manager Jeremy Schultz, “this partnership helps our organization to stay on top as one of the most forward thinking and elite organizations in the United Soccer Leagues.”
“I am extremely excited to work in partnership with the Fresno Fuego for the 2010 season. Telemundo Fresno and Fresno Fuego in 2009 had a great partnership, and with our extension into next year, we look forward to bringing great family-friendly excitement to our community in the Central Valley,” adds Manny Cervantes, General Manager of Telemundo Fresno. “We look forward to an exciting year, a great partnership and serving our community with great sports and entertainment.”
The Fuego and Telemundo will soon start the process to select the game day TV crew, which will include a play-by-play announcer, color commentator, and on-field reporter. The Fuego and Telemundo encourage all those interested in becoming a member of the game crew to email a video to the Fresno Fuego at or mail in your video to 1800 Tulare St. Fresno, CA 93721. All videos must be under 2 minutes; candidates must be bilingual and demonstrate knowledge of the Fuego roster, coaching staff, conference opponents, and team and league history.
