Fuego mourns passing of co-owner

The Fresno Fuego announces the passing of co-owner Juan Alvarez, father of Fuego CEO Francisco Alvarez and President Antonio Alvarez. Mr. Alvarez was a strong supporter of the Fuego and strongly believed in the Premier Development League (PDL) and United Soccer Leagues as a platform for those players who dream of a professional career. He passed away on Monday, September 20th at the age of 69.

"(Mr. Alvarez) was a big reason for the Fuego's success," says Fresno's General Manager Alfredo Guzman. "He showed love and admiration for every member of the Fuego franchise." See more information...

2004 PDL Western Conference Champion

A 2-1 win over Orange County Blue Star gives Fuego Western Conference Championship. With an attendance of 2,177 fans, the Fuego came back from a 0-1 deficit in the first half and score two magnificent goals early in the second half. The first goal came off of a brilliant play between Joel Ramirez and Gaston Cignetti in the 47th minute. Four minutes later, Joel Ramirez gives an assist to Raul Rivera to put the Fuego ahead 2-1.

The Fuego will be traveling to Boulder, Colorado to meet the Boulder Rapids Reserve on Friday July 30th for the PDL National semi-final.
