UVA center back, ex-OKC Energy midfielder earn honors
FRESNO – The PDL announced its’ first 2017 Team of the Week Wednesday, with Fuego center back Sergi Nus and midfielder Jose ‘Chiva’ Cuevas taking honors for their performances in the 4-0 season opening win against Burlingame Dragons FC. The Spaniard Nus played 90 minutes last Saturday, providing intelligent positional play and looked comfortable thwarting Dragons’ attacks. Ex-Phoenix Rising midfielder Cuevas was the offensive star in the season opener, opening the scoring with a fantastic curling effort from the edge of the penalty box in the 4th minute, and adding an additional goal and assist within the first 26 minutes of the match.
The Fresno Fuego return to Chukchansi Park Wednesday, May 10, 2017, as they open the club’s 2017 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup campaign with a 1st round match-up against the UPSL’s La Máquina FC at Chukchansi Park.
Kick-off is set for 7pm.
