Fresno Fuego head coach Sean Lanigan resigns
Assistant coach Brian Zwaschka takes over on interim basis, effective immediately
 

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Fuego (USL Premier Development League) have announced that Sean Lanigan has resigned from his position with the club as head coach and assistant general manager, effective immediately.

Lanigan is stepping down for personal reasons.

Brian Zwaschka, who was Lanigan’ s top assistant coach, will take over the head coaching reins on an interim basis, effective immediately.

“The Fuego would like to thank Coach Lanigan for his contributions to our club, and we wish he and his family the best in his future endeavors,” said Fresno Fuego General Manager Jeremy Schultz.

1-1 on the season following a 5-1 win over San Francisco City FC on Saturday at Chukchansi Park, the Fuego return to action at home on Thursday against the Las Vegas Mobsters, a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

ABOUT THE FRESNO FUEGO

The Fresno Fuego are four-time Champions of the Southwest Division in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, the top level of amateur soccer in North America.  Founded in 2003, the team competes in the newly-formed Central Pacific Division of the PDL Western Conference.  More than 50 Fuego players have moved on to sign professional contracts.
