MEXICAN SOCCER RIVALS SQUARE OFF IN LEAGUE MX FRIENDLY AT CHUKCHANSI PARK
Club America faces the Morelia Monarcas on July 3rd in Downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Fuego have announced an addition to their 5:00 p.m. July 3rd matchup against the Ventura County Fusion at Chukchansi Park. League MX rivals Club America and Morelia Monarcas will face off in an exhibition friendly directly following the Fuego match, with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. and will be available through the Chukchansi Park Box Office (open Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), by calling 559.320.TIXS, or online at www.TicketReturn.com. Groups of 25 or more, or those interested luxury suites can order directly by calling 559.320.4487.

Tickets for the friendly start at $26 ($16 children), while VIP Field Level seats are priced at $76. Tickets to the July 3rd match will grant fans admission to the 5:00 p.m. Fresno Fuego match.

“Fresno is no longer becoming a destination for soccer, it is one,” stated Fresno Fuego GM Jeremy Schultz. “With the LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes playing in the Central California Cup here earlier this year and Club America now returning for their second match in Fresno, passionate soccer fans from all over the Central Valley can once again enjoy a high caliber match in their own back yard.”

Morelia Monarcas and Club America have had a long-standing rivalry, with the Monarcas leading the head-to-head series 15-12. The last time these two teams met in a stateside friendly was in 2012 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Club America has five players who have made the Mexican National Team preliminary 30-man roster for the 2014 US World Cup. The players are Paul Aguilar, Miguel Layun, Francisco Rodriguez, Juan Carlos Medina and forward Raul Jimenez.

Fresno has become the good luck charm of Mexican Professional Soccer, as the last three teams who have played an International Friendly match in the city have won the league championship, such as Club America (Liga MX Champion) in 2012, Monarcas Morelia (Copa MX Champion) in 2013, and Club Leon (Liga MX Champion) in 2013.
