    FRESNO, CALIF. – The Fresno Fuego hit the road for the first time in the 2008 season on Saturday, and came away with a 2-1 win over the Southern California Seahorses in La Mirada, California.

    Amaury Nunes scored both goals for the Fuego, giving him three goals in Fresno’s first two games this season. Nunes opened the scoring in the game’s 15th minute off a feed from Fabricio Codeceira, and then extended the Fuego’s lead to 2-0 in the 43rd minute, off an assist from Orlando Ramirez.

    In the 58th minute, Fresno’s Adan Arteaga received his second yellow card of the match, forcing the Fuego to play with just 10 players for the final 32 minutes.

    Southern California cut Frenso’s lead in half in the 78th minute, courtesy of a Colin Kirkpatrick goal.

    Fuego goalkeeper Ryan Kenny kept the Seahorses off the board the rest of the way, allowing Fresno to even its record at 1-1. This game also doubled as a U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Match.

    Fresno remains on the road for a match-up next Saturday, May 17 against the Bakersfield Brigade.

    The Fuego return to Chukchansi Park on Friday, May 23, hosting the San Jose Frogs at 7:00 p.m. for a Veteran’s Game presented by the U.S. Army. The first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a Fuego Rally Towel, and following the game there will be a spectacular fireworks show. In addition, the Fuego will wear special red, white, and blue jerseys during the game, with a live auction to follow.

    Fresno is also home on Sunday, May 25 for a 4:00 p.m. match against the Orange County Blue Star. Sunday’s game is Faith Night, with pre-game and halftime performances by local Christian bands.
