    Fresno, Calif. – The Fresno Fuego opened the 2008 PDL season on Saturday, dropping a 3-2 decision to the San Francisco Seals in front of 3,874 fans at Chukchansi Park.

    Defending PDL Most Valuable Player Pablo Campos put the Fuego on the scoreboard in the 41st minute, heading a pass from Amaury Nunes past San Francisco goalkeeper Dan Benton.

    Fresno doubled its lead in the 50th minute. Campos dropped the ball back to Nunes, and he blasted a shot past Benton from the right side.

    San Francisco cut Fresno’s lead in half at the 64th minute when Carlos Diaz converted on a penalty kick, and then pulled even in the 80th minute, as Kellan Wilson beat Fuego goaltender Brandon Cave on a quick shot from in front.

    San Francisco continued its rally just four minutes later as Stephen Cordvoa scored the Seals’ third goal of the second half.

    The Fuego play their next two games on the road, playing at Southern California on Saturday, May 10 and at Bakersfield on Saturday, May 17.

    Fresno is back home on Friday, May 23, hosting the San Jose Frogs at 7:00 p.m. for a Veteran’s Game presented by the U.S. Army. The first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a Fuego Rally Towel, and following the game there will be a spectacular fireworks show.

    On Sunday, May 25, the Fuego host the Orange County Blue Star at 4:00 p.m., presented by Vida en el Valle. It’s also Faith Night, with discounted tickets for all church and religious groups, and performances by local Christian bands.
