2003 new commer to the PDL took some of the leagues’ top honors with Jose Luis Delgadillo of the expansion team Fresno Fuego winning Defender of the year award.
The Fuego got off to a roaring start in their first season. They continued to excel by reaching the 4th Round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and playing the defending MLS champion LA Galaxy after upsetting the A-League’s El Paso Patriots.
2003 PDL Defender of the year (Delgadillo), lead the team logging a team- high 1,548 minutes, 4 goals, and an assist for the year. Unfortunately, Jose will not be playing with the Fuego this year due to a knee injury. He has since had surgery and is recovering rapidly. We hope to have back soon.
